Master Lock No. 3The Master Lock No. 3 is a low-security padlock made by Master Lock. It is very common in the United States. This lock also comes in red (RED) and blue (BLU) banded versions.
Locking Mechanism and Keyway
The Master Lock No. 3 uses a pin-tumbler mechanism. This lock uses the W1 cylinder, which contains 4 standard pins. The No. 3 typically utilizes the M1 key profile, but not always. The standard model can be opened in either the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, but the commercial series restricts the key to clock-wise rotation. Standard non-commercial models contain "1D" in the name instead of "1". The lock is not key retaining. The shackle is locked at both the toe and heel.

Vulnerabilites
The No. 3 is vulnerable to many attacks. It's poor manufacturing tolerances and low pin number make it's very easy to pick. The No. 3 is also bypassable because it's locking mechanism is unshielded.
As with other padlocks and pin-tumbler locks, it may be vulnerable to the following vulnerabilities:
